Thanks Dawn - very artistic

About three weeks ago Sam (Drew's younger brother) and his wife Dawn came to Australia bearing gifts - tasty Kentucky bourbon and anti-perspirant deodorant for Melissa. During their weeklong stay, they experienced the good (sunny days at Newcastle and Nobby's beaches, visits to Sydney Harbour and the Opera House) and the bad (three straight days of rain - thanks for being such good troopers guys) and the ugly (the hostel Friday night in Sydney). We showed them nightlife in Newcastle (we are pretty sure Fanny's and the Brewery made lasting impressions) and Sydney (2-for-1 drink coupons!).

They saw Aussie wildlife (koalas, kangaroos and wombats at Blackbutt Reserve), sampled traditional fare (VB, Carlton, meat pies, burgers with fried egg and beet root - but no Vegemite unfortunately) and heard their fair share of "bloody", "buggah", "no worries" and "too ezy". From talking to Dawn, Melissa learned that they loved the Indian food and flat white coffee (so much better from an espresso maker than with drip coffee), were shocked by the amount of grafitti (it's a serious issue along the railways) and infatuated with the two flush options on toilets (half-flush for #1, full flush for everything else).

Dawn and Sam - we hope you had a great time and we're glad that we were able to share this awesome experience with someone!
